Mental Health IOP

When weekly therapy isn't enough but inpatient care isn't necessary, an Intensive Outpatient Program bridges the gap. At Ineza Outpatient Services, our Mental Health IOP delivers structured, evidence-based treatment several days a week — while you continue living at home, working, and caring for your family.

Mental Health IOP: Structured Support Without Stepping Away from Life

An Intensive Outpatient Program is a higher level of care than traditional weekly therapy — typically involving nine to twelve hours of structured treatment per week, delivered in three-hour blocks across three to five days. IOP is designed for adults whose symptoms are significant enough to disrupt daily functioning but not severe enough to require hospitalization or 24-hour supervision.

At Ineza Outpatient Services, our Mental Health IOP combines group therapy, individual therapy, psychiatric medication management, and family involvement when clinically appropriate. Research supports IOP as an effective level of care for depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, and co-occurring conditions. Led by Caroline Ndifon, PMHNP-BC and our multidisciplinary team, we help participants stabilize, build skills, and step down to a less intensive level of care with confidence.

Understanding Mental Health IOP

What IOP Includes

Each week, participants attend structured group therapy sessions focused on coping skills, emotional regulation, and symptom management. Individual therapy and psychiatric medication management are integrated into the program, along with family sessions when clinically indicated.

Who IOP Is For

IOP is designed for adults experiencing moderate to severe symptoms of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, or co-occurring conditions — individuals who need more support than weekly therapy can provide but do not require hospitalization or 24-hour care.

Navigating Mental Health IOP: A Collaborative Path to Stability

An Intensive Outpatient Program is not simply "more therapy." It is a carefully structured treatment experience designed to help you stabilize symptoms, build practical coping skills, and practice those skills in real time between sessions. Our clinical team works collaboratively with each participant to set goals, monitor progress, and adjust the plan as needed.

Stepping Down with Confidence: What Comes After IOP

Many participants enter IOP as a step-down from inpatient or partial hospitalization care, while others begin IOP directly because weekly therapy alone hasn't been sufficient. At Ineza Outpatient Services, our goal is to help you transition to a lower level of care when you're ready — with the skills, support network, and stability to continue thriving.

An IOP is a structured mental health treatment program that provides nine to twelve hours of care per week — typically delivered in three-hour sessions across three to five days. It is more intensive than weekly therapy but less restrictive than inpatient or partial hospitalization care, allowing you to continue living at home.
Weekly therapy typically involves one 50-minute session per week. An IOP provides significantly more structure and frequency — usually nine or more hours per week — combining group therapy, individual therapy, and medication management. This intensity allows for deeper skill-building and faster stabilization.
IOP is effective for moderate to severe depression, anxiety disorders (including panic and social anxiety), bipolar disorder, PTSD and trauma-related conditions, personality disorders, and co-occurring substance use concerns. It is also used as a step-down from inpatient or PHP care.
Most IOP programs last between six and twelve weeks, with many participants attending for around eight weeks. The exact duration depends on your progress, symptom severity, and treatment goals. Our team reviews your plan regularly and adjusts as needed.
Yes. One of the primary advantages of IOP over inpatient or PHP care is flexibility. Sessions are typically scheduled in three-hour blocks, and we offer morning and evening cohorts when possible so you can maintain work, school, or caregiving responsibilities.
Yes. Our virtual IOP is available to adults physically located in California at the time of service. Sessions are conducted through secure, HIPAA-compliant video platforms. California law (AB 744) requires insurers to cover telehealth services at parity with in-person care.
We accept many major insurance plans. Please contact our office at (209) 644-9070 with your insurance details, and our team will verify your benefits and explain your coverage options for IOP. Many plans cover IOP as a medically necessary level of care.
